It is the tale, not he who tells it
One wintry night in New York City, a group of men meet at a cozy brownstone of an exclusive gentleman's club to exchange fascinating tales over brandy. After hearing a number of tales, one of the men begins his disturbing Christmas tale about a young, unwed and rather pregnant girl. The girl goes to a doctor, who after discovering she's very determined to carry the baby to term, introduces her to a breathing method to utilize during delivery.
Originally found within the Different Seasons collection, The Breathing Method also sits alongside "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" (basis for the Academy Award nominated film The Shawshank Redemption), "The Body" (inspiration for the motion picture Stand By Me), and "Apt Pupil" (adapted into a film in 1998 by Bryan Singer).
