As one of Stephen King's most popular tales, The Body's narrator, Gordan LaChance reflects on a moment in his childhood during the 1960's where he and 3 of his friends overhear a rumor about a gruesome accident which left the dead body of a young boy hidden along the railroad tracks somewhere outside of town. Anxious to become heroes for finding the body, the boys head out for an overnight trip and discover a number of harsh truths about their lives and the strength of friendship.

Read by Frank Muller.

Originally found within the Different Seasons collection, The Body also sits alongside "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" (basis for the Academy Award nominated film The Shawshank Redemption), and "Apt Pupil" (adapted into a film in 1998 by Bryan Singer), and "The Breathing Method."

"The Body" was the inspiration for Rob Reiner's motion picture Stand By Me in 1986.
