When I saw the DVD cover of Ghosts of Goldfield, I have to admit to being a little worried. Whenever my neighborhood Blockbuster only has one copy of a movie, it is generally not a good sign, folks.

I now know that I should have listened to my instincts, for I fear that the pain that this movie placed upon me may never be lifted by conventional means...

The movie starts out as five friends are traveling to the Goldfield Hotel; a once grand Nevada inn built during the gold rush era. Having fallen into disrepair, many owners have tried and failed to revamp the grand old gal to her former glory. The Goldfield Hotel is a real place and has been investigated by many a ghost hunter over the years.

So, these inept kids con the hotel owner (WWE's Rowdy Roddy Piper) into letting them bop around the hotel for the night and record their findings.

Now, folks, this is when the movie goes off the reservation and gets so bad, it is almost comical. Almost. The ghostly visions of this Elizabeth character are ridiculous. Instead of this woman's apparition being frightening, she looks more like an overly made-up prostitute with a raspy smoker's cough.

To add insult to injury; the acting, story and direction are all so poor and low-budget; it begs the question; what on earth they were thinking? I was forced to sit on my hands for the entire length of this movie except for the hour that I bashed my head on the coffee table trying to distract myself from the pain.

So, fellow movie fans, be warned; steer clear of Ghosts of Goldfield. It is quite likely the worst movie that I have ever suffered through.

Overall Rating : Zero Stars (Only because there was not a lesser rating available)
