Knowing Darkness: Artists Inspired by Stephen King
The Deluxe Edition cover work for the
upcoming Knowing Darkness: Artists Inspired
by Stephen King
Our friends over at Cemetery Dance gave us the buzz on 3 upcoming releases for Peter Straub, Douglas Clegg and King collectors and fans!

Mr. Darkness
by Douglas Clegg

Douglas Clegg is hard at work on Mr. Darkness, his sold out entry in the Cemetery Dance Signature Series, and this week he sent over an updated description of the book: Mina and her brother Leo live with their ailing father beneath the Excelsior Hotel on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, down in a bunker near the subway tunnels. To survive, they rob from the rich and give to the poor -- themselves. One winter's day, on a foray through the subway platforms to find a "Sherwood" for their Robin Hood game, Mina meets the mysterious man she calls Mr. Darkness.

He lives far beneath Manhattan's subway, in an area of absolute wonder -- and terror -- called Deep City. And she finds herself drawn to him, and to the well-like entrance of a forbidden underworld populated by creatures unseen in the light.

Next up is Knowing Darkness: Artists Inspired by Stephen King, which features over 500 illustrations and over 30 pages of double-page foldouts of previously published and newly commissioned Stephen King artwork! Expected for publication in November, Knowing Darkness features stunning art art illustrating "One for the Road" (Stephen Gervais), It (Bob Eggleton), The Shining (Douglas Smith), 'Salem's Lot (John Picacio), Hearts in Atlantis (Les Edwards), Duma Key (Don Maitz), "The Lawnmower Man" (Jason Eckhardt), The Tommyknockers (Alex McVey), Black House and Cell (Zach McCain), "Weeds" and The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (David Ho), and many more.

The text is written by King critic George Beahm, and looks back at 34 years of King in print, as well as provides a detailed look at the writer and his life.

Cemetery Dance states: We will be placing an order for a very limited number of copies this newly announced collectible book from Centipede Press, so if you're a big fan of Stephen King, now is the time to place your order with us so you don't miss out! This is going to be a HUGE and very HEAVY book, probably unlike anything else in your collection unless you were lucky enough to snag a copy of the Limited Edition of 'Salem's Lot a few years back. This one's going to be special and completely unique!

A Special Place: The Heart of a Dark Matter
by Peter Straub

While in the course of writing his new novel, The Skylark, Peter Straub realized he had created a separate piece of literature so brilliant and so memorable that it must stand on its own.

The result of this inspiration is his new novella, A Special Place: The Heart of a Dark Matter. Details on the book haven't been released, however, author Tom Monteleone notes, in "further proof of his brilliance, he has entrusted its exclusive independent publication to Borderlands Press."
