Twilight, based on the block-buster, best-selling novel by Stephenie Meyer, is essentially a love-story with a supernatural twist. While it seems to be geared more for the young and the young at heart, this teeny-bopper vampire movie was worth a watch...

The movie begins as Bella (Kristen Stewart, Jumper, The Messengers) moves to a small town in misty Washington state to live with her dad. A popular girl from Arizona, Bella has a hard time adjusting to the weather and being the new-comer in high-school.

Eating lunch in the cafeteria one rainy day, she sees a click of friends come in and she's not the only one staring at them. The four teens are pale and perfect and glide as they walk. (This was a nice touch; exactly like Ms. Meyers wrote in the book)

Intrigued, Bella soon meets the handsome Edward (Robert Pattinson, Harry Potter 4+5) and as she falls for this strange, elusive boy. But, Bella finds more than she bargained for; Edward and his pals are vampires. With Edward also enamored with Bella, can the two star-crossed lovers find a way to bridge the gap of death?

Twilight reminded me a little of Let the Right One In; two youngsters in-love trying to overcome an impossible obstacle. While Let the Right One In is a much better movie, Twilight was none-the-less entertaining. Beautifully filmed with some great special effects, it is a fresh new take on romance and the vampire legend. While Edward is trying not to eat his new love, Bella is wondering whether or not to become like him so they can be together. It made for an interesting story line and the acting was better than I expected.

All in all, Twilight is a nice movie to watch, especially if your teen daughter has made you buy it already!

    Overall Rating: 2 1/2
