I love it when I stumble across a movie that I have never heard of and it turns out to be fabulous! Phone, directed by Byeong-Ki Ahn, is a delightful scary film out of South Korean that is definitely worth your time...

When investigative reporter Ji-Won (Ji-Won Ha) hits a little close to home with her articles on child sex scandals, she begins to get frightening e-mails and strange phone calls. The constant ring of her cell phone gets Ji-won to move and change her number.

Taking her sister's offer of her unused house in another city, Ji-Won settles-in, thinking her harassment to be over. But, soon she is getting even stranger calls; a screeching woman's voice on the line has her wondering if it has anything to do with her articles at all.

One afternoon, her young niece, Yeong-Ju (Seo-Woo Eun) answers the cell phone by mistake to hear the screams of the woman on the line and the little girl begins to behave strangely. Acting more like an adult than a six-year old, the family takes little Yeong-Ju to the Doctor for tests when she becomes violent with her parents, but here doesn't seem to be anything wrong with her.

Using her investigative training, Ji-Won delves deeper into the mystery of these strange calls and soon finds out that the two people who had her telephone number before she did, both died. Lies, deception and deadly secrets are uncovered as Ji-Won learns the terrible truth behind the menacing phone calls.

Phone absolutely scared the bejesus out of me, folks, and that doesn't happen too often. It reminded me of One Missed Call, The Ring and Voice all rolled into one. It's a fabulous ghost story that packs some real punch along with some remarkable acting. The entire cast does a bang-up job here, but I have to say how impressed I was the young actress Seo-woo Eun, who plays the little girl, Yeong-ju. This is one powerful little actress and her solo-scene on the stairs had my skin crawling as I tried to keep the scream in!

All in all, Phone is a fantastically creepy movie with some great twists and turns and plenty of Boo-Factor!

Recommended as a rental and/or purchase. Personally, I'm buying it!
