I have rented all of the 2007's batch of Ghost House Underground films and I find that I have mixed feelings about them. Some of them were pretty darn entertaining; movies like The Substitute [review], Dance of the Dead [review] and No Man's Land - The Rise of Reeker [review]. But others have been either flat-out terrible or have merely left me needing two Advils. Trackman, sadly, is one of the latter...
The movie starts as a group of bumbling thugs have robbed a bank, killing some police officers and tellers in the process. Sticking to their terrible plan, they head underground to hide in the dark and drippy abandoned subway tunnels. Bickering amongst themselves and trying to control their frightened hostages, they find that are trapped below ground and terribly lost. But, as you can probably guess, their day is about to get worse.
In the tunnels with them is a masked lunatic who loves to collect eyeballs from his victims. Soon our inept robbers are running for their lives as they are picked-off one by one, by our faceless, pick-axe wielding madman...
Now, you'd be right if you said that this story has been done before. Perhaps not in this movie's home town of Moscow, Russia. Director Igor Shavlak does give us some great angles and visuals; which must not have been easy in the cramped, dark environment. But, the acting and script are so bad that it's hard to see past it, and the English voice-overs seal this movie's fate.
Try some of the other Ghost House Undergrounds that I mentioned before. In my opinion, they are far better than this one.
Only recommended as a rental.
