Now available for rent, at a video store near you; the tepid and groan-inducing remake of the Thai Horror classic, Shutter. I am unsure what the filmmakers had in mind when they decided to make this film, but the result is a bland, visually uninteresting and fright-free horror movie... Read on...

A photographer, Ben (Joshua Jackson, The Skulls) and his new wife Jane (Rachel Taylor, See No Evil) relocate to Japan for Ben's new job. They spend their time taking in the sights, snapping photos and settling into their new home. But, when strange white blurs begin to appear in all of their photos, Jane takes them to a psychic and a ghost-photo expert. The happy couple soon discover that they have a malevolent spirit haunting them. And this spirit wants revenge!

But, Jane has only scratched the surface of her hubby's past, for he has a terrible secret that may just get them both killed.

While they stuck pretty closely to the story line of the original film, this Shutter felt as if it were being spoon-fed to me. Every scene of this movie was painfully predictable and given away by the musical score. There is nothing left to the imagination and there was not a scary moment to be had because of it. Even the ghost is ho-hum; looking more like a lost Girl Scout than an evil entity hell-bent on revenge.

Shutter was disappointing as it had such potential; having such a good story basis, but it sorely misses the mark!

Stick with the original 2004 version, folks; trust me, you'll be glad that you did.
