The directing duo, "The Butcher Brothers" (The Hamiltons) are back with their version of the 1986 classic slasher flick, April Fool's Day. In some ways this remake is not as good as the original, but yet I was more impressed with the ending. While this movie ended up feeling a bit corny, the who-dunnit story-line kept me watching.

It's April 1st, 2007; April Fool's Day. Desiree is holding a posh party at her beautiful southern mansion. This party is the social event of the season and as the rich and beautiful gather in tuxedos and opulent ball gowns, Desiree (Taylor Cole) and her brother, Blaine (Josh Henderson), have a prank in mind. Well known for their yearly tricks, this year the two have targeted Desiree's arch-enemy, Milan (Sabrina Aldridge).

After the prank on Milan goes horribly awry and Milan falls to her death from a balcony, her death makes the news; a social disaster for Desiree and Blaine. A year to the day later, someone begins to taunt the pranksters for Milan's death and promises revenge.

It takes a while for April Fool's Day to get going and I had to sit on my hands to keep them from hitting the "STOP" button on the remote. But, once I got past the bad acting, the story got fairly interesting with lots of twists, turns and plenty of suspects.

If you are a fan of the original movie, you might find this version interesting for its differences, as well as its similarities. Though I don't recommend that you buy this flick, it does make for an amusing rental.
