"If you forget her, she'll become unseen and unheard..." - Cho-ah

Voice, begins at a typical girl's high-school in South Korea: teenagers giggle in the halls, talk on cell phones, and hurry to their classes. But, long after the students leave for the day, Young-eon (Ok-bin Kim) is in the music room, practicing her choir solo. She becomes frightened when she hears another girl's voice singing harmony along with her, yet no one else is in the room.

Running through the halls, convinced she is being stalked, Young-eon turns around to see the shadowy figure of a girl. A piece of sheet music floats through the air towards her, then slices her throat, killing her instantly.

Waking the next morning in the music room, Young-eon believes that it was only a nightmare that she had, but as she does not remember her death, Young-eon is frightened when no one can hear or see her.

The viewer is left to wonder : If she is dead, where did her body go?

Now a ghost, Young-eon walks the school halls, screaming at people and trying to get their attention. Finally, she discovers that her friend, Sun-min (Ji-hye Sea), can hear her and they must work together to discover the truth about Young-eon's murder. But, the school has many secrets, love triangle and suicides that leave many suspects and little time. Horribly stuck, haunting the school and searching for answers, Young-eon must find out who her friends really were.

Voice is not your typical horror movie in that the blood and guts were minimal and not even necessary to the intricate story line. The characters are mature and believable and all give heart-wrenching performances.

Beautifully filmed, the movie is at once chilling and creepy, then incredibly sad and thought provoking. The original musical score by Byeong-hun Lee is so haunting and beautiful, it really adds another layer to the richness of this movie.

Though technically this film is one in the Whispering Corridor/Ghost School series, Voice is a fabulous movie in its own right, even if you have not seen the others. Well Directed by Ik-hwan Choe, I highly recommend Voice as a rental and/or purchase.
