If you like your horror movie with a side of humor and blood-soaked action, then Producers Wes Craven, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Chris Moore have you covered with their movie Feast. (The Production of the movie was chronicled on the third season of Bravo's 'Project Greenlight'.)
Feast, Directed by first time filmaker, John Gulager, is a mind-blowing horror film that I really enjoyed, though I do not recommend that you watch it during dinner. And make darn sure that the kids are out of the room for this one, folks!
The movie begins at a ratty, road-side dive in the middle of nowhere - a bar where folks come to toss back a few Budweisers, shoot a game of pool and gossip with other locals. We never do learn their real names, but the characters go by their nick-names; like 'Bozo' and 'Hot Wheels'. Our introduction to these characters is a very funny part of the movie.
Soon, a man blows through the doors, bloody and toting a shotgun. "They're comin', lock this bar down now!" This is when Feast grabs you and never lets up!
You see, 'what's coming' are four, 8ft tall, ravenous monsters! These prehistoric-looking beasties have wicked fangs, talon-like claws and they are viscous, fast and scary as hell!
This rag-tag group of bar patrons are ill-prepared for the horror that is coming to eat them and they will spend the night just trying to stay alive!
While Feast had me laughing, as well as squirming in horror, I found the sexual prowess of the beasties a little disgusting. I guess that was the point, though, to horrify you even more, so it does sort of fit in with the theme! And there are some very funny moments and one-liners to balance-out the gore.
This movie is definitely not for those viewers with weak stomachs, but if you like gory, brutal, shocking and in-your-face horror action, then this is the meal for you! Be sure to watch the Special Features part of the disc for an amusing commentary and some funny outtakes, and watch through the credits for an added scare!
Recommend as a rental and/or purchase...though you may want to rent it first!
