Broken by the suicide of his beloved brother, David Forrester (Raviv Ullman) is shipped off to Driftwood, a camp for boys, for an 'attitude adjustment.' His parents have become concerned with their surviving son's sudden obsession with death and all things dark.
A rebellious teenager, David is struggling to adjust to the camp's street-wise inmates as well as the brutal guards. But, from the first night there, David begins to see the ghost of a former inmate named Jonathan. The son of the warden, Jonathan died in a mysterious manner some years back and seems to be leading David towards frightening answers. David begins to get the details of Jonathan's death, but can he unravel the mystery before the guards do him in?
Sounds good right? Well, I thought so, too. Yet, I found Driftwood to be terribly disappointing. Despite being directed and Written by Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs) and Chris Kobin, the movie is painfully over-acted and lacks any real special effects or Boo-Factor. Save for a little cursing and the constant sexual references, it was more like a bad After-School Special than an actual feature film.
Too bad, as the story idea and DVD cover held such promise and potential.
You would do well to steer clear of this flick!
