'Your phone, Your life..' - Cellular Advertisement Billboard in One Missed Call
One Missed Call is a fast- paced thriller based on the Japanese film Chakushin Ari. Originally written by Yasushi Akimoto, the US version is a juicy combination of films like The Ring and Final Destination.
The movie starts out with a dorm-style party at Beth's (Shannyn Sossamon) house. The co-eds are murmuring about the recent death of a friend. Beth is talking boy problems with her friend, Leann (Azura Skye) when her phone rings -- the call is coming from the dead friend's cell-phone! More than a little worried, Leann checks her message only to see the time stamp on it is for tomorrow evening. What's worse is that the message is a recording of Leanne herself, screaming for help.
When Leann dies in a horrific commuter-train accident at the exact time the next evening, Beth and her friends become concerned, especially when another friend's phone begins to ring...and yep, you guessed it -- the call is coming from a dead Leanne's phone. The terrifying cycle continues as more of Beth's friends receive cell phone calls and then die in some horrible manner.
With the help of a police detective named Jack (Ed Burns), will Beth be able to stop the phone calls before death comes for all her friends...
No, wait, now Beth's phone is ringing...
One Missed Call, directed by Eric Vallete, is a hip and scary thriller full of creepy special effects and tension. Believe me, you'll be thinking of this movie the next time your phone rings!
A great date night rental, but turn off your cell phone first!
